Thank you, Liz!

I love a well dressed man. Who doesn’t? The recently concluded Oscars saw men more stylish than ever before. Custom fit tuxedos in various hues that made me sit up and take note of what they’re wearing. After awhile, I saw a common thread. Most of the men I found dapper were wearing bejeweled pins!
Excitedly and obsessively I started scouring for estate pins and here’s what I’ve amassed.
If you like Jared Leto’s style, might I suggest this?
1920’s Art Deco pin with old mine cut diamonds on platinum over gold.
1940’s arrow pin with old cut diamonds on 18k yellow gold
I can see  Common wearing these
Crescent shaped blue sapphires and diamond pin on platinum over gold. Circa 1930’s.
Estate pin of pearls and old cut diamonds crescent pin.  Circa 1930’s.
Zac Posen can totally carry this off
Blackamoor of onyx and rose cut diamonds on oxidized silver and gold.
Terrence Howard’s pin is a bit more spherical, might I suggest this pin?
1920’s circular pin of pearls and blue sapphires on 14k yellow gold.
Over the lapel, as a scarf pin or as a tie bar, these would look so cool, don’t you think?
As you can see they can also be worn by women so it is multi functional.
I think it’s about time we bring the dandy back!

Now available at JANINA for Jul Dizon, Peninsula Manila hotel.

Outgrown jewellery

We all have it.  Jewellery that we have bought when we were younger, gifted by a loved one or inherited that we have outgrown.

BT had a smattering of these that she wanted to be able to wear again and wanted to re use it as a bangle bracelet.

I saw her stones and noticed that they were a mix of different shapes and sizes.

Voila, the finished product.

worn casually with a watch.

As you can see, we even had leftover diamonds to make a new ring!

Thank you BT and hope you enjoy your new bangle!

Loup Noir

I would like to introduce to you a new brand called Loup Noir.  I came across them in Germany and once again, in Le Bon Marche, Paris where they grace the main front display window.

I love their prints – the cheval (horse) as well as the leopard’s.  All bags are very light as they are made of waterproof canvas and calf leather trimmings so it’s perfect for travelling and/or shopping.
They remind me of the more well known canvas handbags minus the price tag!

You can also have them personalized. Monograms are additional and will take 2-3 months.

Would you like first dibs?

I will be opening a pop up store at

23 Nicanor Garcia, Makati City

from 1 till 5 pm.

Hope to see you!

I’ve had the great pleasure of having these wonderful ladies wear my jewellery.

Miss Iza Calzado

Miss Kim Jones

Miss Bea Alonzo.

Thanks again to their stylists, Liz Uy, Kat Cruz and Daryl Chang for the support!

The jewellery at the Oscars.

I just finished watching the Oscars and I am happy to see such astounding jewellery.

As I’ve always said, jewellery always finishes the outift.

Here are my personal bests.

Lupita Nyong’o is a breath of fresh air!  She is impeccably styled.  Her gown is very dreamy while her earrings are very edgy.  I love how she mixed it up.

I wonder if she will singlehandedly bring the headband back?

One of my personal faves, Olivia Wilde is stunning. I love how simple she looks knowing that her baby bump is her biggest accessory!  I love the pop 0f white coral/agate(?) on her ears! (we have something similar to this by the way, drop by!)

Another proof that the baby bump is the best accessory? Here is Kerry Washington and her eternity rings.

A more sophisticated version of Lupita’s earrings on Sandra Bullock.  These are MAJOR diamonds!

I love how Jennifer Lawrence wore her necklace.  Although I was wondering if it was taped because I saw her fall but the necklace didn’t budge?  No matter, she does it all with grace.

I wouldn’t have thought that Naomi Watt’s neckpiece would match her sequined dress but lo and behold it did.  She was a great standout in her white dress.

Black and white. The necklace is all that Charlize Theron needed.

And for major wattage, here are Angelina Jolie’s sparklers

Apparently, her diamond earrings are a total of 42 carats!

Yowza.

Remember her green emeralds?

To this day, I still dream of those earrings.

Last month, I was approached by Ms. Daphne Kuok (of the Shangri-La Kuoks) to donate a jewellery piece for this coming auction for the International Care Ministry in Hong Kong.  This would be my third time to donate.

Citrine bee brooch pin.

On October 12, I received this email from Ms. Tess Lyons:

———

Twenty-four hours ago, you helped change lives for the better.

Last night’s ICM banquet, held last night, was successful beyond measure – over HK11.4m  (US$1.5 Million) was raised to transform the lives of the impoverished in the Philippines. The silent auction items raised over 2.1 million.

Your generosity made our auction and evening so financially successful, and we are so grateful. There were 1000 people in the room – and we were glad we could provide your company exposure to this elite group.

Congratulations ICM!

There will be another auction for UNICEF this month as well as

a portion of the sales this month will be donated to Philippine Breast Care Foundation for Breast Cancer awareness month.

October is a month of giving back and paying it forward.

As you might know, my Mom passed away from breast cancer.  I miss her dearly and am saddened that this disease is the second leading cause of death among women so for every single purchase of JANINA jewellery this month, a portion of the sale will be donated to the Philippine Foundation for Breast Care, Incorporated.

October is also National Children’s Month and UNICEF Philippines is holding it’s annual Auction for Action as to which I am donating a pair of Transformer earrings.
The auction goes live on Ebay this on October 21-27, 2013 at www.ebay.ph/unicef.

TRANSFORMER earrings
These dangling earrings consists of a brilliant cut blue topaz with green tsavorites and a pear shaped amethyst top in yellow silver.  The middle part are bezel set amethysts with white sapphires in the double happiness symbol. Bottom danglers are made with icy blue amazonite drops in silver. These earrings can be worn five ways.

Any donations would also be welcome. Let us help in any way we can.

I am  a huge fan of Sex and the City, most especially because of Sarah Jessica Parker.

I’ve loved her since Square Pegs (do you remember that tv show?)

When I heard that she was here, I had to pull all my connections to meet her.

As luck would have it, the gods smiled down on me and lo and behold I bumped into her at the lobby of the Pen!

She was so gracious!  As a sign of good will, I gave her a long vintage type necklace

As well as the TATJANA clutch

I hope she likes and wears it out!

At the SM Aura opening that evening, a good friend, DS gave us a private introduction.  When she saw me, she waved and said, “Hello again!”

I can’t begin to tell you how sweet and gracious she was.  So humble and down to earth! I was in fan heaven.

I couldn’t stop gushing in Instagram and Facebook so my friend Maco made this for me!

He named it, “New Barkada!” hahaha how I wish!

Thanks to everyone who was instrumental to making this fan meet her icon!

Paris in Manila

Last weekend, we were invited to DR’s new flat.

We’ve been scheduling this for months and I’m so glad we were able to finally coordinate our scheds and make the time.

His place is GORGEOUS!

I love the fact that the apartment feels old worldy and cozy (it’s only 4 months old.) It is the May cover of ELLE Decor and it is well deserved!

Really brought me back to Paris.

Don’t get me started on his walk in closet.

His artworks are TO DIE FOR!

(Please excuse photo quality)

Great taste, great friends.

His choice in furniture is also superb. (That is Ito Kish’ award winning chair)

I believe we’ve found our love pad.

Thank you for inspiring me with your beautiful space Dennis!
