Liz Uy

Two weeks ago, celebrity stylist, Ms Liz Uy attended the wedding of her good friend.

Her pictures are too beautiful not to post.

She wears a blue sapphire and diamond tennis necklace in platinum and a diamond tennis bracelet.

Thank you, Liz!

I love a well dressed man. Who doesn’t? The recently concluded Oscars saw men more stylish than ever before. Custom fit tuxedos in various hues that made me sit up and take note of what they’re wearing. After awhile, I saw a common thread. Most of the men I found dapper were wearing bejeweled pins!
Excitedly and obsessively I started scouring for estate pins and here’s what I’ve amassed.
If you like Jared Leto’s style, might I suggest this?
1920’s Art Deco pin with old mine cut diamonds on platinum over gold.
1940’s arrow pin with old cut diamonds on 18k yellow gold
I can see  Common wearing these
Crescent shaped blue sapphires and diamond pin on platinum over gold. Circa 1930’s.
Estate pin of pearls and old cut diamonds crescent pin.  Circa 1930’s.
Zac Posen can totally carry this off
Blackamoor of onyx and rose cut diamonds on oxidized silver and gold.
Terrence Howard’s pin is a bit more spherical, might I suggest this pin?
1920’s circular pin of pearls and blue sapphires on 14k yellow gold.
Over the lapel, as a scarf pin or as a tie bar, these would look so cool, don’t you think?
As you can see they can also be worn by women so it is multi functional.
I think it’s about time we bring the dandy back!

Now available at JANINA for Jul Dizon, Peninsula Manila hotel.

I’ve had the great pleasure of having these wonderful ladies wear my jewellery.

Miss Iza Calzado

Miss Kim Jones

Miss Bea Alonzo.

Thanks again to their stylists, Liz Uy, Kat Cruz and Daryl Chang for the support!

The jewellery at the Oscars.

I just finished watching the Oscars and I am happy to see such astounding jewellery.

As I’ve always said, jewellery always finishes the outift.

Here are my personal bests.

Lupita Nyong’o is a breath of fresh air!  She is impeccably styled.  Her gown is very dreamy while her earrings are very edgy.  I love how she mixed it up.

I wonder if she will singlehandedly bring the headband back?

One of my personal faves, Olivia Wilde is stunning. I love how simple she looks knowing that her baby bump is her biggest accessory!  I love the pop 0f white coral/agate(?) on her ears! (we have something similar to this by the way, drop by!)

Another proof that the baby bump is the best accessory? Here is Kerry Washington and her eternity rings.

A more sophisticated version of Lupita’s earrings on Sandra Bullock.  These are MAJOR diamonds!

I love how Jennifer Lawrence wore her necklace.  Although I was wondering if it was taped because I saw her fall but the necklace didn’t budge?  No matter, she does it all with grace.

I wouldn’t have thought that Naomi Watt’s neckpiece would match her sequined dress but lo and behold it did.  She was a great standout in her white dress.

Black and white. The necklace is all that Charlize Theron needed.

And for major wattage, here are Angelina Jolie’s sparklers

Apparently, her diamond earrings are a total of 42 carats!

Yowza.

Remember her green emeralds?

To this day, I still dream of those earrings.

I am  a huge fan of Sex and the City, most especially because of Sarah Jessica Parker.

I’ve loved her since Square Pegs (do you remember that tv show?)

When I heard that she was here, I had to pull all my connections to meet her.

As luck would have it, the gods smiled down on me and lo and behold I bumped into her at the lobby of the Pen!

She was so gracious!  As a sign of good will, I gave her a long vintage type necklace

As well as the TATJANA clutch

I hope she likes and wears it out!

At the SM Aura opening that evening, a good friend, DS gave us a private introduction.  When she saw me, she waved and said, “Hello again!”

I can’t begin to tell you how sweet and gracious she was.  So humble and down to earth! I was in fan heaven.

I couldn’t stop gushing in Instagram and Facebook so my friend Maco made this for me!

He named it, “New Barkada!” hahaha how I wish!

Thanks to everyone who was instrumental to making this fan meet her icon!

As you might have noticed, we have updated our website and we are excited for you to experience this.  Since the site is categorized, it is easier to access pictures of the jewellery to the bags to how she wears it.

On this note, please allow me, dear reader, to make this blog a more personal one.  As they say, change is good.

I am also on instagram and twitter for instant gratification.

See you on the next post!

Ms. Joey Mead King

Joey is a long time friend and I must tell you, her beauty has not faded one bit in over the 20 years we’ve known each other!

seen here wearing Janina jewellery with the lovely Giselle Toengi at the MEGA Ball.

wearing Janina jewellery for a Rustan’s event at Salon de Ning

It must be a combination of genes, good living and her overall great personality.  This lady has remained the same throughout all these years.

She is now the catwalk mentor for Asia’s Next Top Model and I personally cannot wait to see her strutting her stuff on tv.

Congratulations Joey!!

The hits

Jaime King’s a real snake charmer. This Bulgari necklace is amazing!

My favorite: January Jones in a torquoise and diamond necklace. I loved how she didn’t wear earrings so the necklace becomes the focus of attention.

Gwyneth Paltrow knows her jewellery.  She knows when to pile it on or keep it simple.  She is always smashing.

Jessica Stam and her bracelets.  It looks like one jumbled expensive mess and I love it!

This is perfection. Kate Bosworth is simply divine, the lips, the skin, the diamond earrings.

The near hit:

Solange Knowles wears a great geometric cuff. Looks like pyrite stones or beaten gold?  I think this bangle would have been a standout if she didn’t pile on the rings as well.

The misses:

She is downtown cool but I wish Mary Kate’s earrings were more polished.  This feels a bit too casual no?

OTT Karolina Kurkova.  I feel that this sequined dress with the sequined beret merits a colorful gemstone. Not diamonds.  Anyway, who would have noticed the jewellery if you’re wearing all those sequins?

Fashion tip: If you like the beret, you can get one exactly like it at Carolina’s in a multitude of colors for only P500 (US$ 11).

Thank you Ms. Mel Cuevas for featuring my jewellery alongside Ms. Shamcey Supsup.

She looks beautiful!

Thank you Mel, Shamcey and the LOOK Magazine staff!

I love putting my fashion hat on during Awards season. It’s so much fun to  admire these otherworldly celebrities and deem who wore it best.

Here are my takes on who wore the best jewellery.

If you’re going to wear diamonds, well, wear them big! These are probably a carat each.

I would love to see Charlize Theron’s brooch up close.  I love the stunning use of the brooch at the waist to break up the sweetness of the Dior gown.

When I grow up, I want to be Tilda Swinton.  I love her wonder woman cuffs.

Kate Beckinsale, wow those earrings are TDF!!

but colored stones have my heart, and Debra Messing wears it to perfection.

The ring looks simple but believe me, it would cost gajillions to have that kind of setting.

Although I am not a big fan of Heidi Klum ( I love Project Runway though) I think that she wore turquoise best.  It really stands out on a nude ensemble and blond hair.

up close.

Julianna Marguilles wears the perfect color combination.  Purple and green is such a standout.  I really love the earrings.

Up close, doesn’t it look like something we would do?

All hail Sofia Vergara- probably one of the most loved TV personalities of today.  She wears the jewels to prove it. Over US$5million buckaroos!

I leave this post with Piper Peraboo.  She is in bad need of jewellery don’t you think?
